Downtown Development

A vibrant downtown reinforces Show Low’s position as the commercial, entertainment and cultural hub of Arizona’s White Mountains.  To that end, the City of Show Low is committed to the enhancement of the City’s Downtown Redevelopment and Main Street business districts.

The Show Low General Plan, adopted in 2018, calls for the expansion and revitalization of businesses Downtown and along the Deuce of Clubs with a preference for more pedestrian-oriented shopping and dining clusters supported by nearby housing and lodging facilities.  The City is promoting this philosophy with strategic public works projects and responsiveness in approving development proposals that will help realize this goal.  The City of Show Low partnered with Show Low Main Street in 2010 on the Deuce of Clubs Streetscape Enhancement Project.  This project created pedestrian friendly walkways and courtyards; the realignment of several downtown streets; the creation of new parking areas; and the installation of new streetlamps, benches and trash receptacles.

Other downtown streets are receiving similar treatment to create a more attractive and pedestrian friendly downtown in order to attract additional investment.  The City of Show Low supports Show Low Main Street in their effort to advance development activities in the downtown business district.
